What’s behind Elon Musk’s statement?

What are the challenges of a CEO faced with the exponential growth of a startup?

Once again, a statement by Elon Musk has hit social media and other outlets in recent weeks. This time, the tycoon says that remote work is no longer acceptable.

On the surface it looks like a debate about remote working, but when it comes to Elon Musk, no phrase is dropped without a lot of planning behind it (see bitcoins, Twitter…). So beware of taking his maxims as commandments.

According to The Washington Post, Musk wants to cut 10% of the electric vehicle manufacturer’s salaried jobs and freeze hiring by saying “bad feeling” in an email to Tesla executives. A statement like that puts a good deal of pressure on employees and then those who are uncomfortable change on their own.

Here’s the question: is it about remote work or about having to cut the payroll?

In the end, the real proof of the suitability of remote working is the results. XP, Nubank, Microsoft, Google, Meta, have all adopted at least the hybrid. It’s here to stay.

SCOOTO is made up of 300 working women, most of them mothers, who are transforming customer service and delivering far more than the market average. We’ve grown 1000% in the last year. And all remotely.

Marina Vaz, CEO and Founder of Scooto.
